Hungary’s PM positive about U.S.-Russian Paks cooperation

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and General Electric Vice Chairman John G. Rice said today they hope an American-Russian technical cooperation will take place in the upgrade of Hungary’s sole nuclear power plant in Paks, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The PMʼs press chief Bertalan Havasi said today after the meeting between Orbán and Rice, during which they reportedly discussed the plant expansion project, that the American company was interested and motivated in connection with the project.

The parties discussed the training of staff in Hungary and agreed to launch a joint higher education training program of regional importance, MTI reported.

Rice said yesterday that his company was interested in becoming involved in the expansion.
