Hungary plans to use non-EU workers to ease labor shortage

History

National Economy Minister Mihály Varga yesterday agreed with a proposal put forward by national business association MGYOSZ to ease labor shortages in some sectors of the country by inviting foreign workers from outside of the European Union, according to reports.

Varga stressed that Hungarians should not be worried about losing their jobs, because the proposal affects professions in the country where there are not enough qualified human resources to fill in.

Noting there are labor shortages in the country, Varga noted that one-fourth of Hungarian businesses say they cannot fill positions.

Changes to related regulations would be made soon, the minister said yesterday according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
