Initiatives

Hungarian state-owned all-news channel M1 launched a Chinese-language news program yesterday, following the broadcast of a Russian-language news program, the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA) announced on its official webpage today.

MTVA justified the launch of the news program by stressing the importance of China’s role as strategic partner to Hungary, according to the announcement. The fund noted that Chinese nationals living and working in Hungary “should” receive news on Hungarian political and economic matters “first hand”.

In addition to Chinese and Russian language news programs, the television station also airs news in English and German.
