Hungarian state-owned TV secures Olympics broadcast up to 2024

History

The Summer and Winter Olympics will be broadcast on Hungarian state-owned television from 2018 to 2024, following the conclusion of a deal with Hungary’s public media fund, MTVA, Hungarian News Agency MTI reported.

MTVA’s statement referred to the deal as “historic”, and noted that for the first time, the Olympics will be broadcast in Hungarian across the Carpathian Basin.  

The deal will also grant MTVA the rights to digital content of the Olympics broadcasts, according to a statement by MTVA’s Interim Chief Executive, Miklós Vaszily.

The allotted time span of the deal will cover four Olympic Games.
