The central government and Budapest’s City Council will finance a HUF 17 bln development of the Dagály swimming pool and baths complex in Budapest's 13th district, in a project to make Dagály “a national sports and spa centre”, Budapest Deputy Mayor Gábor Bagdy said yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The project would have two phases.  One of them is to complete the facilities for the swimming and water polo world championships in 2021 and the other to renovate the popular spa itself, according to reports.

The central government will finance the larger part of expenses and the city will cover the spa renovation, at a cost of HUF 3.5 bln.

Building is scheduled to start in September 2015 and last 20 months.
