Happnʼs path crosses Budapest

Dating smartphone application Happn has been launched in Budapest, according to a press release issued by the company today. The application combines real-life experiences with online dating based on the phone users’ GPS location.

“We bump into hundreds of people every day. They are part of our life for a brief moment… before they disappear again,” Happn says, adding that with the help of the application we can meet those people again, despite having only briefly bumped into them.

According to the press release, the app lets you discover all the people crossing your path every day and tells you when, where, and how many times the two of you have met before.

The application counts more than 5 million users around the world, in cities such as Paris, London, New York, Barcelona, Madrid, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Mexico and Sao Paulo.

“We cross paths with so many people every day, but it can be difficult to seize the moment and make the most of opportunities to meet people offline. So we designed Happn with the real world in mind to give our users a chance at love at second sight and keep the digital to a minimal. We’re absolutely delighted with the support we’ve received so far and are looking forward to expanding into new markets in 2015,” Marie Cosnard, Spokesperson at Happn said.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
Newspaper organizations across the globe have struggled to find a business model that allows them to continue to excel, without compromising their ability to perform. Most recently, some have experimented with the idea of involving their most important stakeholders, their readers.
We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
