GVH approves sale of LIGA TVʼs mobile broadcasting business

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has approved state-owned terrestrial broadcaster Antenna Hungariaʼs (AH) acquisition of LIGA TVʼs mobile broadcasting service division, GVH said yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
GVH said it established that as the division and AH have no overlapping activities and there is no vertical connection between the activities of the division and AH, the merger is not expected to have any negative horizontal or vertical impact on competition.
GVH added that since AH is the single provider of free digital terrestrial television broadcasting services that it provides at centrally regulated prices based on long-term contracts, the merger is not expected to result in a negative portfolio effect.
