Some 90 Hungarian railway lines and 1,200 stops are being added to Google Maps, through the cooperation of Hungarian railways MÁV, subsidiary MÁV-START, regional railway GYSEV and Google Hungary, according to a press release issued today.

Thanks to the addition, the complete activity and timetables of Hungarian domestic railways are accessible through the web application, according to the press statement.

As more than a billion people use Google Maps monthly, many of them seeking to find transport information, Google Maps has aimed to offer thorough and accurate information for its users, the press statement notes. The present cooperation has therefore been termed a significant one.

“Hungarian railways needs to keep pace with technical and IT developments,” Ilona Dávid of MÁV said.

Google Maps, now complemented with the Hungarian railway lines, can be accessed through web browsers at the maps.google.hu address, or can be downloaded via smart phone applications for Android and iOS-based phones.
