German carmaker Audi is temporarily moving 850 workers at its base in Hungary while it switches over to production of the new Q3 model, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

From January, 550 of the workers will be moved to Audiʼs vehicle plant in nearby Bratislava, about an hour away by car. The other 300 will stay at Audiʼs base in Győr, but will be shifted to engine production. Audi makes both engines and cars at the base.

Audiʼs local unit, Audi Hungaria, announced plans in the summer to move some labor during preparations for the production shift to the Q3 model.

Serial production of the Audi Q3 is expected to start in Győr in 2018.
