German carmaker Daimler is helping long-distance commuters at its new plant in Kecskemét find closer places to live, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft marketing and PR director Edina Kozári Sztipich told MTI on Wednesday. Daimler is organising a "city fair" at the plant that presents 25 communities for possible relocation within 80km of Kecskemét, Sztipich said. Some of those at the plant travel a greater distance to work at present, she added. About 2,500 people now work at the plant, which launched production at the end of March, but the number will rise to 3,000 by year-end. The plant is expected to turn out 40,000 next-generation compact models this year.
