Consumer, business confidence improve in November

Logistics

GKIʼs combined consumer and business confidence index rose to -2.2 points in November, up from -4.5 points in October, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today. The separate business confidence index rose from 1.0 to 2.8 points.

In the industrial sector, the outlook improved for production, order stocks – with the exception of export orders – and inventories, though the assessment of production in the past months worsened. More companies plan investments, especially in 2017.

The measure of confidence in the construction sector reached a 14-month peak as orders improved.

Sentiment among commercial companies slipped back to the level in September as assessments of sales positions and orders deteriorated. Inventories improved, however.

Confidence in the service sector improved, too.

The consumer confidence index rose to -16.5 points, up from -20.3 points. Fear of unemployment eased and inflation expectations fell.

GKIʼs measure of consumer and business confidence is supported by European Union funding.
