In an attempt to raise awareness that water is becoming an endangered resource in the world, Hungary is hosting the Budapest Water Summit 2016 in the capital’s Millenáris Park, according to reports.

These days water is the most endangered resource; without sufficient water there will not be enough food, any further industrial development or sustainable urbanization, Hungarian President János Áder said opening the summit today, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The summit aims to make water “the source of cooperation, peace and development for all the countries committed to sustainable development” rather than a source of conflicts and global risks, according to MTI. The conference is expected to attract around 1,800 representatives from 117 countries.
