Last year car dealership Wallis Motor Pest Kft. saw a record number of sales, chiefly lifted by BMW and Mini sales, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. The company is planning to add another branch in Hungary through an investment of HUF 3 billion.

BMW vehicles sold by the company covered more than one third of the total sales of the brand in the country, Wallis Motor said in the press release. Last year the company sold almost 500 BMW cars, 150 BMW motorcycles and more than 80 Mini cars.

This year, chiefly due to a branch that will be opened through a HUF 3 bln investment, the company expects to further improve its performance in the Hungarian market.

Commercial and marketing director András Kele added that the majority of the sales were corporate in nature, and the dominance of men making car purchases is on the decline as the number of women buying cars grows.

The company expects to double its sales of Maseratis in the short term, managing director Péter Antal told Hungarian news agency MTI yesterday. Last year, Wallis Pest sold 19 of the Italian sports cars, up from 13 in 2014, Antal said. Currently 150-170 Maseratis could be on the roads in Hungary.

The dealer had a profit of HUF 236 million on revenue of HUF 15 bln last year, MTI added.
