The Hungarian unit of French engineering giant Alstom had revenue of HUF 7.6 billion in its business year ended March 31, up 40% from the 2011/2012 business year, Alstom Hungária CEO László Deák said on Friday. Revenue was lifted by growing exports, more orders for power plant maintenance and the launch of maintenance services for metro lines, Deak said. The company made a loss last year because of the consolidation of the metro project in Budapest and the closure of the Lang machinery plant, he added. Exports generated 80% of Alstom Hungária's revenue. Alstom Hungária got HUF 6.4 billion of new orders from domestic and foreign companies. Alstom is delivering new vehicles for Budapest's No. 2 and No. 4 metro lines. It also wants to supply vehicles for the No. 3 line and the suburban HÉV line.  Alstom employs 145 people in Hungary but offers work to a further 65 on contract. The Alstom group's orders from Hungarian suppliers rose 33% to more than HUF 12 billion in the 2012/2013 business year.
