Uber Hungary to hold farewell convoy Saturday

On the day when US-based ride-sharing application Uber is suspending Hungarian operations for an unspecified period due to stricter regulations, drivers are planning to hold a farewell procession.

The expected six-kilometer ride will not cause any traffic disruptions, organizers expected, although it is foreseen to be loud, accompanied by constant honking of horns.

As new regulations by the Hungarian government would for all intents and purposes turn Uber vehicles into taxis, Uber has decided to pull out from the country until a favorable legal environment makes it possible to return.

Uber users can join drivers riding free of charge on the final convoy, which is scheduled to set off at 4 pm on Saturday from Budapest’s Heroes’ Square.
