A total of seven Lufthansa flights are staying grounded in Budapest today due to the continuing international strike of pilots called by union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), according to a press announcement sent to the Budapest Business Journal late Monday.

Only two flights will take off on the Budapest-Munich route today (LH 1675 and LH 1681), while all other Budapest flights of the airline stay grounded. According to the latest information, tomorrowʼs Munich-Debrecen flight will take off, despite the global extension of the strike to Wednesday.

As far as Lufthansa as a whole is concerned, some 2,184 of 3,000 scheduled Lufthansa Group flights are going ahead today, with long-haul services operating as scheduled, while on Wednesday some 2,110 of 3,000 scheduled Lufthansa Group flights will operate as planned, Lufthansa said in a press statement on its website.

All in all, over 525,000 passengers have been affected by the last six days of strike action since last Wednesday, through a total of 4,461 flight cancellations, according to Lufthansa.

Group airlines Eurowings, Germanwings, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Air Dolomiti and Brussels Airlines are not affected by the strike. The pilots of Lufthansa Cargo have also not been called on to strike. Flights to and from Germany that are provided by other Lufthansa Group airlines will operate as scheduled.
