The museum quarter project (“Liget”) planned for Budapest’s city park (Városliget) is a failure, Magyar Urbanisztikai Társaság (MUT), known in English as the Hungarian Society for Urban Planning, said at a press conference, online portal napi.hu reported.

According to MUT, the advantages of the project are overrated, while the potential damage caused by the construction has been underestimated. Critics underlined that the museum quarter already exists and that the initiative “lacks content”, while it is also not in line with the city’s long-term urban development plans.
