KÉSZ to start building airportʼs Pier B in January

Based on the result of a tender, construction company KÉSZ Építő Zrt. has been commissioned by Budapest Airport, the operator of Ferenc Liszt International Airport, to construct the 10,000 square-meter passenger Pier B at the capital’s airport through an investment of HUF 6 billion, according to a press statement sent to the Budapest Business Journal.
Construction of the new addition to the airport is scheduled to start in January, according to the contract signed by the parties on Friday. Six years after the company finished building the airport’s SkyCourt, an additional section will be added to the complex to serve the growing number of planes arriving in the capital.
The investment will be financed by Budapest Airport in its entirety. The marquee-like structures of the temporary basic boarding gates (BBGs) will be disassembled soon, as a first phase in the development. The new pier complex will add 27 new gates and ten passenger bridges to the airport.
