First Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses delivered to Budapest
VT Transman, which won a tender last year to provide the Budapest Public Transport Center (BKK) with bus services worth an annual HUF 10 billion, took delivery of the first 50 Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses of a 159-unit order at a ceremony in Heroes' Square on Tuesday. Budapest mayor István Tarlós and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán spoke at the ceremony. The Budapest local council recently authorised up to two-thirds of the city's bus services to be taken over by contractors. The number of contracted buses in the capital is set to rise from 150 in 2013 to 450 in 2014 and to 900 by 2016.
