A direct rail link between Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport and Kőbánya-Kispest, the southern terminus of metro line 3, would make the capitalʼs airport more accessible from Budapest as well as from other big cities around the country, a feasibility study has found, business daily Világgazdaság reported today.

The line would not only be accessible from the M3 terminus, the daily notes, but also from big cities such as Debrecen and Szeged, avoiding a trip into the center of the capital, the Ministry of National Development was reported as saying.

According to the ministry, the project would involve the upgrade of an existing rail line between the M3 terminus and Monor, southeast of the capital, that would circle around the airport, Hungarian news agency MTI reported. Currently, travelers who want to use public transport to reach the airport must take the metro and then a bus, or a train and then a bus, MTI noted.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
Newspaper organizations across the globe have struggled to find a business model that allows them to continue to excel, without compromising their ability to perform. Most recently, some have experimented with the idea of involving their most important stakeholders, their readers.
We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
