Budapest-Brussels flight lands safely; security increased
A plane arriving from Budapest landed safely in Brussels minutes before two explosions at Zavantem Airport this morning, and it was taken to a safe hangar, according to reports. A Hungarian man and woman were hospitalized after being injured in the explosions in Brussels this morning, the Hungarian ambassador said.
Hungarian Police ordered strengthened security checks at Budapestʼs Liszt Ferenc International Airport and at various points along the capitalʼs metro lines, following the Brussels explosions, according to reports. Travel through the airport is likely to take longer.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his condolences to the casualties and their families affected by the explosion, and asked for immediate and continuous information in connection with the events from Hungarian security and terror prevention authorities to help make a decision on the necessary measures, the prime minister’s press chief Bertalan Havasi said, according to origo.hu.
