Budapest Airport, the operator of the Hungarian capital’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport, expects traffic on Hungary-U.S. flights to grow, after airberlin announced in March that it would launch three flights daily between Budapest and Berlin, according to a press release issued today.

Airberlin noted at the launch that many U.S. destinations are easily accessible from Budapest via Berlin. “The expansion by airberlin is significant because approximately 130,000 passengers travel to New York, the interest in U.S. cities is growing and Berlin is still one of the most sought-after destinations”, Balázs Bogáts of Budapest Airport said.

Altogether eight new destinations are being added to the schedule of the airport as of the second half of the year, the press release said. The eight new destinations include Toronto, Ibiza, Thessaloniki, Bucharest, Sofia, Nürnberg and the Canaries, the statement added.
