BP mayor: Single transit zone planned for refugees

Budapest Mayor István Tarlós told state-owned Kossuth radio today that the establishment of a single refugee transit zone in the capital is “very probable”, and that the current transit zones at railway stations will be “moved away”.

The Hungarian government operates transit zones for refugees arriving in the country, in order to accommodate them before they leave the country, on their way west.
According to the mayor, the Hungarian parliament is scheduled to decide on the issue tomorrow in a measure designed to “make the current situation more manageable”, Hungarian news agency MTI reported, citing the interview.
The mayor, however, noted that the “service” of transit zones will not be abolished, as they were created for “humanitarian reasons” and also to “protect Budapest citizens” from living in “anarchic conditions”.
