Friday 14:02, July 30th, 2010
The Hungarian unit of German car maker Audi had revenue of HUF 681 billion in the first half, up from HUF 490 billion in the same period a year earlier, Audi Hungaria told MTI on Friday.

Engine output of Audi Hungaria's plant in Győr jumped 32% to 876,932. The number of vehicles assembled at the plant increased 25% to 21,493 vehicles and included 9,625 Audi TT Coupe models, 3,330 TT Roadsters and 8,538 Audi A3 Cabriolets.

Parent company Audi plans to make more than a million vehicles in 2010, matching a record reached in 2008. "As a subsidiary, we can contribute to achieving this target to a significant degree," said Audi Hungaria managing director Thomas Faustmann.

Audi Hungaria's capital expenditures in the first half rose HUF 5 billion over the same period a year earlier to HUF 25 billion. The profile of the unit will be expanded again this year with the addition of a research centre.

The plant has started making frame elements for the new RS5 model.

Audi Hungaria employs about 5,700 people. It has hired 149 new staff this year, including 40 engineers. (MTI-ECONEWS)
