Parliament approves legislation accelerating broadband internet

Lawmakers yesterday approved legislation that aims to accelerate investments necessary to bring broadband internet to all Hungarians by 2018, two years ahead of the European Union target, Hungarian news agency MTI reported. 

The legislation outlines incentives for building up broadband networks and smooths over regulatory hurdles. Cardinal paragraphs in the legislation were approved with a vote of 152 in favor, from the governing alliance of Fidesz-KDNP as well as MPs of radical nationalist Jobbik, 37 against and four abstentions.
