Prime Minister Viktor Orbán discussed Hungary's COVID vaccine rollout, the country's economic recovery plan, and ties between Hungary and the World Health Organisation with WHO regional director for Europe Hans Kluge in his office in Budapest on Thursday, the PM's press chief told news agency MTI.

Bertalan Havasi said Kluge had acknowledged Hungary's pandemic defense measures.

The sides agreed that the economy and people's everyday lives must gradually restart, he said. Kluge reiterated his stand that schools must be the last places to close and the first to re-open, he added.

Kluge called Hungary's vaccination campaign exemplary, adding that vaccines should be seen as tools with which to save lives, independent of geopolitical issues.
