Orbán Reaffirms Commitment to Providing Ukraine With Humanitarian Aid

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán reaffirmed Hungary's commitment to providing Ukrainians with humanitarian aid, but said the country won't deliver any weapons in a video message posted on Facebook late Thursday, after a European Union summit in Brussels at which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky participated.
"Hearing the Ukrainian president, it's obvious this war is dragging on, we can't count on it ending soon. As it drags on, we Hungarians will continue to help the Ukrainians with humanitarian means, but we will still not deliver any weapons," Orbán said.
He noted that Hungary had offered Ukraine humanitarian assistance of a scale "unprecedented in Hungary's history" over the past year while allowing more than 1 million refugees across the border.
Hungary's interest remains in seeing a ceasefire and peace talks as soon as possible, and settlement resulting in a lasting peace," Orbán said. "Lives can be saved only with peace and a ceasefire. We Hungarians continue to stand on the side of peace!"
