Hungary sends 500 liters of communion wine to Ukraine

Secretary of State for Church and Ethnic Relations Miklós Soltész of the Prime Minister's Office dispatched the latest aid consignment from the Hungarian government for Ukraine in front of the Polish parish church in Budapest on Monday: 500 liters of mass wine.
According to telex.hu, the high-quality wine, which can be used for liturgical purposes, was donated by the Archdioceses of Eger and Veszprém, and the Pannonhalma Abbey was collected by the Hungarian Catholic Charity and will be transported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to Poland, where it will be forwarded to Ukrainian churches.
Speaking at the launch of the shipment, Soltész said that the war in Ukraine had severe economic consequences and that, in addition to food, clothing and medicine, it was at least as important to support the churches with essential tools for the practice of faith, such as communion wine.
The state secretary admitted that "we are in dispute with our Polish friends" because "we are still not willing" to send either arms or soldiers to Ukraine, but "we are ready to cooperate in any way" to help families who have fled to Hungary or people who have remained in Transcarpathia or the interior of Ukraine.
