Hungary is in talks on bringing more big Chinese investments to the country, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Friday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Fielding a question on a possible visit to Budapest by the Chinese president at a press conference, Szijjártó said a number of negotiations were underway that could result in more big Chinese companies with cutting-edge technology bringing their European investments to Hungary.

He added that Hungary was still in "tight competition" with other, Western European countries for those investments.

He said high-level visits between Hungary and China were justified considering the countries' broad strategic partnership.
