Paks II to comply with OAH request
Paks II, the project company for upgrading Hungary's sole commercial nuclear power plant, is expediting responses to a National Atomic Energy Office (OAH) request for further clarification regarding the licensing procedure for the two new blocks.
The news was confirmed by Alexander Merten, the deputy head of ASE, the Rosatom unit general contractor for the project, in an interview published in business daily Világgazdaság.
"We will deliver the requested information and answers in the shortest time possible," Merten said.
The OAH had until the end of September to issue the implementation license for the two blocks but said in October that it had requested "further clarification" for the procedure.
The office acknowledged that the documentation submitted by Paks II was "very thorough in several respects," but said, "further assessment and analysis is needed in some areas, taking into account the recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency 's mission."
