Czech Retail Sales Growth Eases in February
Retail trade in the Czech Republic slowed to 1.6% year-on-year in February from an upwardly revised 1.3% growth in the previous month, figures from the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) showed on Friday.
Sales eased for non-food products (2.4% vs 4.5%), particularly in pharmaceutical & medical goods (5.2% vs 7.9%) and cosmetic & toilet articles (13.3% vs 15.8%). Moreover, sales continued to fall for information & communication equipment (-9.6% vs -6.4%) and other household equipment (-9.9% vs -6.3%), while tumbled for cultural & recreation goods (-10% vs 7.1%).
Meanwhile, sales increased at a faster pace for food, beverages & tobacco (1.1% vs 0.8%).
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade fell 0.8% in February, following an upwardly revised 1.3% rise in the preceding month.
