Hungary is donating 455,000 COVID antigen rapid diagnostic tests to Moldova, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a video message posted on Facebook on Friday.

Szijjártó said Moldova is "facing serious challenges" because of the war in Ukraine as several hundred thousand refugees have entered the country and close to 100,000 are now residing there. "Testing these refugees for COVID in the interest of halting the spread of the pandemic requires serious efforts by Moldovan health authorities, so we're helping them with 455,000 antigen rapid tests," he added.

The minister said Hungary is also donating 72,000 tests to North Macedonia and 30,000 to Montenegro to support pandemic defense in the Western Balkans.
