Number of Visitors From Neighboring Countries Over Pre-COVID Levels

The number of visitors to Hungary from Czechia, Poland, and Romania is now higher than in 2019, the year before the pandemic, the Hungarian Tourism Agency said on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
In the year till the end of July, 294,000 visitors from Romania came to Hungary, 18% more than in the same period of 2019, a record-breaking year. About 255,000 Czechs visited Hungary during the period, up 7pc from 2019, and the number of Polish visitors climbed 5% close to 265,000.
The number of guest nights spent by tourists from the three countries rose at a similar pace and exceeded 2 million.
Destinations outside of the capital, such as the Bük and Sárvár region in the west of the country, the city of Debrecen in the east, and the spa towns of Gyula and Hajdúszoboszló, drew 77% of Czech visitors, 65% of Poles and 62% of Romanians.
