The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) on Monday issued a Sustainable and Responsible Investment Charter in which it commits to incorporate environmental sustainability aspects in reserves management, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The charter establishes guidelines for integrating a sustainability approach into the foreign reserves investment strategy and aims to boost transparency and serve as an example for financial market players.

In the long term, the aim is to ensure that the reserve portfolios are decarbonized as much as possible, MNB said.

The specific way in which some elements of the charter will be implemented will largely depend on future developments in data quality and availability, it added.
