Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said he had agreed with his Egyptian counterpart, Mohamed Zaki, to explore the possibilities for cooperation in the defense industry after a meeting in Egypt on Monday, state news wire MTI reports.

"We discussed points of cooperation between the two armed forces and addressed the defence industry which is important for us both," Szalay-Bobrovniczky said in a video message posted on Facebook.

He noted that Egypt was, in many respects, self-sufficient on this front, and said Hungary, too, was striving to support the development of its military with its own defense industry.

"In this area, the strategic interests of our countries are in line, and we agreed to explore the possibilities for cooperation," he added.
