The European Commission has extended restrictions on imports of Ukrainian wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower seed to Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Slovakia until September 15, the European Union's executive said on Monday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The restrictions, which entered force on May 2, had been set to expire on June 5.

They were rolled out to manage a glut of Ukrainian farm products in neighboring EU member states resulting after Brussels exempted the products from customs duties and quotas to expedite delivery to countries in the Middle East and Africa.

The suspension of the customs duties and quotas is in place for another year, the EC said on Monday.
