MBH Puts 2024 GDP Growth at 2.7%

Analysis

Analysts at MBH Bank, Hungary's second-biggest lender, forecast GDP growth of 2.7% this year, chief analyst Zoltán Árokszállási said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The forecast was lowered from 3.5pc in January because of weak export markets and a tepid recovery of household consumption, Mr Arokszallasi said. The long-term outlook remains the same and has just been pushed back by half a year, he added.

He said higher real wage growth was expected to boost consumption in the second half of the year, parallel with an improvement in the external environment.

The government's official forecast for 2024 GDP growth is 2.5%.
