Minister of Agriculture István Nagy complained of a lack of will at the European Union level to resolve the matter of a glut of Ukrainian grain on the markets of neighboring member states after a meeting of his peers in Brussels, according to agroinform.hu.

Nagy said protesting farmers were drawing attention to the difficulty of accessing agricultural support and a lack of sufficient protection as Ukraine's interests were prioritized.

The "ideologically overpoliticized" agriculture sector is unsustainable for farmers, he added. The Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU presented its work program for the first half of 2024 at the meeting on Tuesday.
