Slovenia Records EUR 325 mln Budget Deficit in Q1

Slovenia's consolidated budget was in deficit of EUR 325 million in the first quarter of 2023, the Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.

Budget revenues in the first quarter of 2022 fell 2.7% on the year to EUR 3.0 billion, while expenditure declined 0.6% to EUR 3.3 billion.

Tax revenue in Q1 totaled EUR 2.5 billion, 4.1% more than in the same period last year, with value-added tax (VAT) inflow going up 7.7% to EUR 1.2 billion and income tax inflows decreasing by 6.9% to EUR 436 million.

The country closed 2022 with a consolidated budget deficit of EUR 1.4 billion, down from a EUR 3.1 billion deficit in the previous year.
