Czech Industrial Output Stalls in January

Industrial production in the Czech Republic showed no growth year-on-year in January, following a revised 0.5% fall in the previous month, figures from theCzech Statistical Office (CZSO) on Friday show.

Output decreased less for electricity, gas, steam & air-conditioning supply (-2.6% vs -15.6% in December 2023). Meanwhile, manufacturing output growth slowed (0.8% vs 2.1%), whereas production dropped further for mining & quarrying (-22% vs -12.7%).

On a monthly basis, industrial production tumbled 2.3% in January, reversing a 2.8% rise in the preceding month.

A separate report from the Prague-based statistics agency showed that construction output in the Czech Republic dropped 5.9% year-on-year in January, slipping further from a downwardly revised 3.4% fall in the previous month. On a monthly basis, construction activity went up by 1% in January.
